PORTRAITS BY COMMISSION

Please inquire using the form below.
Kyrin Hobson's work builds on a life-long interest in paintings that capture the nuanced details of personality and relationships. Interacting with clients to develop a vision that captures the subject and creatively exceeds expectations is Hobson’s strongest motivation.

A natural painter since childhood, Hobson brings an expansive sense of beauty and conceptual creativity to her work. She is particularly interested in adding cultural symbolism to her paintings and prizes any opportunity to paint subjects of varied ethnic backgrounds.

Kyrin Hobson Portrait Studio is committed to bringing museum quality paintings to people who will love them. Art world trends come and go, but the privilege of owning a masterfully executed painting that captures and honors an individual is special and rare

YOUR COMMISSION

INITIAL MEETING

Spending time with the subject is the most important part of painting a successful portrait. An initial meeting will establish the concept, tone and setting of the painting. It creates a chance to get to know the individual in his or her chosen setting. The artist will explore lighting and poses. This process takes about two hours. A head study may be drawn from life and a color story established in oil paint. A deposit of 50% is requested at this time along with signature of a contract to describe and govern the specific commission.
PRESENTATION
Portraits are presented in person (if possible) before final varnish is applied. Reasonable requests for adjustments to the painting are welcome at this time. Once client and artist achieve final approval, there is the option for the artist to consult on framing free of charge. Payment is due prior to framing, or upon receipt of the framed painting if the artist handles framing.
PRIMARY APPROVAL
The material from the initial meeting will be used at the artist’s studio to create the composition for the painting at its final scale. The painting is open to adaptation at this stage, so it is an ideal time to share images for client approval. The next steps of bringing the portrait to completion take place at the artist’s studio during the agreed-upon time frame, usually six months.
